Our Mission

The Maximilian Foundation was started in the fall of 2014 and is dedicated and committed to supporting bona fide programs that work with Children and Adolescents’ insecurities through Counseling, Substance Abuse Awareness and Education. The Foundation’s focus, efforts and mission are to help support those programs designed to strengthen individuals, build character and confidence, thus allowing Children and Adolescents to better cope with life’s challenges, develop strong life skills, and learn to believe in themselves.

Our federal ID number (EIN): 47-2427944.

Where do the our donations go?

The money that we have raised to date will be utilized to expand a Southern Regional School District (SRSD) program called STYLE (Student Team Building Youth Leadership & Experience). The existing STYLE program trains a select group of middle and high school students to be peer leaders that mentor fellow students and elementary school students. Selected students attend a 2-day training retreat where they are trained in psychosocial behavior and brainstorm why kids turn to drugs and alcohol and make poor life choices. They also discuss how to use their skills to connect with other students. This is a comprehensive program that affects the entire school population.

The expansion we are funding for the 2016/17 school year will allow additional students to enter the STYLE program. Further, the STYLE students will present, run and lead at least two activities per year at the Stafford Intermediate School and the Long Beach Island Grade School. This is the pilot year for this program and will be funded with money raised in 2015. Our 2016 fundraising will allow us to continue this program for the 2017/18 school year and will also allow us to further expand the program to include more elementary schools.

Please consider becoming a sponsor for The Maximilian Foundation! Your contribution will help us to continue the program we’ve developed with SRSD for the 2017/18 school year and will allow us to expand the program to include additional schools. And, your contribution is tax deductible.

Our Story

My name is Rick. My Son Maximilian was born December 22, 1991. From the day he entered this world, he always had a smile on his face. He constantly shared his compassion, positivity and love with family, friends and everyone he met until his death on November 16, 2014. He died from Heroin. My daughter, Madeline, is lost without her best buddy and forever companion. My wife, Maryann lost her dream and I lost my only son.

Our mission for The Maximilian Foundation will be focused on Drug Education in hopes of preventing what happened to our family happening to other families. Our goal is to inform children of the consequences of doing Heroin as well as trying to identify children who are the most susceptible to trying drugs. I want to reach parents and let them know it can happen in their homes, no matter how happy or loving their home may be.

The media sends mixed messages to glamorize the drug epidemic. We must stop these mixed messages and ensure that our children understand the TRUTH about drug use and the devastation and death it causes.

Due to the new formulas the drug suppliers are using to make Heroin, a person becomes addicted on the first try. We can’t take all the dealers or suppliers away, but we can take away the demand!

I ask you to please help in my mission. I want to spread my son’s love and compassion to all our children. I want children to understand the consequences of trying this potent drug and inform them of the hurt it causes their Brothers, Sisters, Moms and Fathers, Grandparents, cousins, and friends. I want to let them know how precious they are to US. We can protect our children from everything but themselves, so let’s educate them and give them the information they will need to make a better future.

Maximilian and Madeline are Maryann’s and my world. When we lost Maximilian, we lost too much to explain. I don’t want what happened to my son to happen to your child.
